Champions League showdown

My smart ass fast talking United friend was at his cocky best when I agreed Arsenal were outplayed and ground into the dust dust the other day. As sadistically as possible he started to take the mickey out of me. My poor Chelsea friend was at the receiving end too. Chelsea show agains't the most feared attacking team in the world was absolutely stunning. Like at Nou camp they didn't park the bus. They defended like fiends and attacked as best as they could whenever they got the ball, which payed off. But the refree in the begining and Iniesta at the end had other plans altogether. Both of them together scripted one of the most controversial Champions league semi final in the recent history of the tournament. Chelsea were the favourites to seal a revenge match agains't United. But Barca had come with their own plans and so had the refree. According to what i've read he wasn't experienced enough to over see this match. But a hand ball, strike that two hand balls in the penalty area right in front of his face went un-noticed. According to fair play un-intentional hand balls are generally not given even though most often that not they are but this was too important a game to do everything by the book and by whose book?? I haven't seen any book all my life i've played and followed football. Chelsea fans have every right to feel robbed of the finals every right. They didn't play attacking football but tactically they outsmarted a superior opponent with their main strength their defence.
Putting all that aside now the world gets a Champions League final, which might probably be watched by more people that the World Cup finals next year. A complete wholesome side in United. Good at attack and good in the defence and in the middle of the field versus a team blindingly good in attack, excellent midfield probably the best in the world right now and a holdable defence. Also the stage is set for the two best football players on the planet to fight it out for european supremacy. Ronaldo vs Messi. I'm a big Messi fan as he is every bit the perfect football player I ever wanted to be and has proven time and again that size doesn't matter, a saying I believe in whole heartedly. He is a genuine football player minus a foot perhaps and all the negetive attitude the current celebrated crop of talented players have. His feet are magic. Ronaldo is like Henry born to play football and do what he is doing now. He is lethal in every footballing sense. Defending isn't his job and he knows it. Muscle bone and sinew all put together to create the ultimate footballing weapon currently controlled by Sir AF. The two are set in entirely different moulds. Both great but one dives like a swan giving them a complex and one keeps running on. One kicks breathtaking goals and the other creates with amazing runs not possible on human legs.

So the stage is set for perhaps the most celebrated football match in its history. Lets enjoy and hope for Arsenal to be there finally in the next season.

See yaa..

Arsenal for life..
